Two men and two women face drugs charges after a drug search in Halifax last week.

On April 24, officers assigned to the Drug Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division and the West Quick Response Unit conducted a search of a residence in the 0-100 block of Ashdale Avenue. Officers seized a quantity of cocaine, marijuana, prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia during the search. Four suspects were arrested at the scene without incident.

A 47-year-old woman and two men, age 33 and 44, all of Halifax, were charged with one count each of possession of drugs. A 34-year old Halifax woman was charged with three counts of possession of drugs. All four will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on June 11.

Drug activity often involves violence that puts innocent citizens at risk and is detrimental to the overall safety of our communities. The Quick Response Unit is an important part of the Halifax Regional Police crime reduction strategy, with a separate unit for each of our three divisions. The members in these units usually work in a plain clothes capacity and address crime and quality-of-life issues. Citizens are encouraged to report drug activity to police by calling 902-490-5020.
