Three men and a woman are facing charges after a stolen motor vehicle was recovered in Dartmouth this morning.

At approximately 8 a.m., police received a report that a motor vehicle had been stolen overnight from a residence on Newport Drive in Fall River. The stolen vehicle information was subsequently broadcasted to all patrol officers.

At 9:23 a.m., officers observed the stolen vehicle travelling on Franklyn Court in Dartmouth. As officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, both the driver and front passenger exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot while the two rear passengers remained on scene. Following a short foot pursuit, officers located the driver on True North Crescent and the front passenger on Highfield Park Drive. All four occupants were taken into custody and a quantity of marijuana was located inside the vehicle.

The driver, a 22-year-old Halifax man, is facing charges of theft and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. The front passenger, a 25-year-old Halifax man, is facing charges of joyriding. They are both being held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court tomorrow.

The rear passengers, an 18-year-old Dartmouth man and an18-year-old Dartmouth woman, are each facing a charge of possession of drugs. They were released from custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date.
