15-67586 - Police investigating stabbing

UPDATE June 11 - 

Yesterday afternoon, officers assigned to the East Quick Response Unit arrested 29-year-old Jason Halsey without incident at a residence on Lakefront Drive in Dartmouth. He was held in custody overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating a stabbing that occurred earlier today in Halifax.

At 9:54 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 2000 block of Gottingen Street in Halifax. Officers located a 28-year-old man who had been stabbed while in the 5500 block of Cornwallis Street before making his way to a Gottingen Street address. The victim was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. There is no suspect description available at this time.

Investigators are in the early stages of the investigation. Anyone with information about this stabbing is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020.
