Halifax Regional Police are advising citizens about parking in the streets following the storm.

Patrol officers have noted that in some areas, due to vehicles being parked on either side of the road and with the impeding snowbanks, passing vehicles cannot get through. This is especially concerning with respect to emergency vehicles and snow plows that are trying to navigate through these areas.

Please be advised that as per the Motor Vehicle Act section 148 (1), stopping or parking in a business or residential area when less than three metres width of roadway remains for traffic is an offence. You may receive a summary offence ticket in the amount of $61.60 and your vehicle is at risk of being towed.

Citizens are encouraged to call police at 902-490-5020 if they observe any parked vehicles that are impeding the passing of other vehicles.
