Halifax Regional Police arrested a youth who had barricaded himself inside a residence in Dartmouth this afternoon.
At 1:57 p.m., officers looking for a 16-year-old male youth wanted on an arrest warrant attended a residence in the 200 block of Sp ring Avenue. Officers made contact with the youth from outside the house and the youth stated that he would not come out and that he was armed with knives. Officers established a perimeter outside the residence and called additional resources to the scene. At 2:29 p.m., the youth exited the residence unarmed and was taken into custody without incident.
Officers remain at the scene while the investigation is continuing. The youth is currently in custody and charges are anticipated.
