Break and enter this morning in Dartmouth

Police have a man in custody following break and enter in Dartmouth this morning. 

At 12:30 a.m. on January 18, members of the East Quick Response Unit of the Halifax Regional Police were on general patrol and noted a man acting suspiciously on a pathway near Charlottetown Way. Officers stopped and spoke with the man who was carrying a whipper snipper, saw kit, grinder sander kit and work gloves. The man was put under arrest for possession of stolen property and was taken into custody without incident.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that the recovered items were taken from a residence in the area. Patrol members later located the owner of these items on Bowser Avenue. As a result of this arrest, investigators in the General Investigation Sections of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at a residence off of Charlottetown Way and located what are believed to be additional stolen items.   

Forty-seven-year-old Drew Anton Carter of been charged with one count of break and enter and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.  

The investigation is ongoing with respect to other break and enters that have occurred in the area.
