The Criminal Code charge against an officer with Halifax Regional Police has been withdrawn.

On September 9, 2011, Halifax Regional Police issued a media release concerning Constable Andrew Morris being charged with sexual assault. The charge stemmed from an incident earlier the same day on Grafton Street in Halifax. Last week, the charge of assault was withdrawn by the Crown Attorney in Halifax Provincial Court.

The internal Police Act investigation into this matter is on-going and Constable Morris remains on administrative duties at this time.
