The charges against a man in connection with a murder and attempt murder in May have been amended.

On May 25 at approximately 8:40 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons call at 2711 Clifton Street in Halifax. Two men, one armed with a handgun, broke into the residence, where two occupants were shot. Corey Duane Lucas was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a second man, 31, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released.

Last month, a man was charged with first degree murder and attempted murder and a woman was charged with accessory after the fact. Yesterday, 27-year-old Simon Peter Dugas of Halifax appeared in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of first degree murder and attempted murder. Today, in consultation with the Crown, those charges have been withdrawn and a new charge of accessory after the fact has been laid.
