Charges laid in the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility disturbance

The HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section has laid charges following an investigation into a disturbance at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility (CNSCF) that occurred last month.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on March 24, members of Halifax Regional Police were dispatched to a weapons complaint at CNSCF located at 90 Gloria McCluskey Avenue in Dartmouth. Officers were informed that a disturbance had occurred involving a number of inmates, and as a result, two men suffered minor stab wounds inflicted by improvised weapons. Two men, age 39 and 24, were treated for minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, eight men face a number of charges and will appear in court at a later date:

Troy Jeremiah Bowden, 22; Robert Edgar Paul, 21; Corey Stephen Joseph Paul, 29; and James George Falt, 28, all charged with:-          Section 88 (1) CCC Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose-          Section 267 (a) CCC Assault with weapon-          Section 266 CCC AssaultDean Gordon Normand, 39-          Section 88 (1) CCC Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose x2-          Section 267 (a) CCC Assault with weapon-          Section 266 CCC Assault x2
