Officers with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid charges in connection with a stabbing that occurred this weekend in Dartmouth.

On May 23, at 12:33 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 0-100 block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth. Police located a 39-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to hospital by EHS for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. This was not a random incident as the suspect and the victim are known to each other.

At 1 a.m., the same morning, 20-year-old Joseph Douglas Rolfe of Halifax was arrested without incident on Jackson Road. He was held in custody over the weekend and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts of breach of previously imposed court orders.
