A man faces charges after a search yesterday by the HRP/RCMP Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.

On March 29 Halifax Regional Police received information that a 20-year-old man was sharing sexually explicit images online with a 13-year-old male youth. The investigation culminated yesterday with the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 0-100 block of Kingston Crescent in Dartmouth. Officers arrested a suspect at the scene and seized computer equipment. This was not a random incident as the accused and the victim are known to each other.

Twenty-year-old Brandon William McNeil of Dartmouth is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on April 29 to face charges of luring a child, making sexually explicit material available to a child and making child pornography. He was released from custody under conditions to not communicate with children under the age of 16, not to possess a device able to access the internet and not be within 50 meters of a place frequented by children.

The HRP/RCMP Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) is primarily responsible for the investigation of offences related to internet exploitation of children. These investigations include the making, possession, accessing and distribution of child pornography and internet luring of children. Anyone with information on these types of incident is asked to contact police at 490-5020.
