Each year in May, Halifax Regional Police and Halifax District RCMP host Police Week, with hands-on displays and demonstrations which showcase the many services provided in HRM and give residents an inside look at the fascinating world of police work.
The free event will take place on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. -6 p.m. at Mic Mac Mall, 2nd Level, Bay Court entrance. The public is welcome to come see police vehicles and equipment up close, watch demonstrations by specialized police divisions such as the K-9 Unit, HRP’s Public Safety Unit and the RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit’s robot. If you find you’re interested in getting involved, there will be officers and staff on hand to answer your questions about our youth programs, recruitment and how to volunteer. As an added bonus, the Halifax Regional Police Youth Program will be there to take children’s fingerprints and RCMP will be on hand to take photos of children with officers as a memento of the event.
In addition to Halifax Regional Police and Halifax District RCMP, officers from Military Police and CN Police will be on hand to offer their expertise on what role they play in helping keep HRM a safe place to live, work and play.
