Daytime break and enters

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance in relation to a recent rash of break and enters in Halifax.

On January 30 and 31, there were three daytime residential break and enters into ground level apartments on Fairfax Drive, Chipstone Close and Prestwick Close respectively. It appears that in each case, thieves entered the apartments while the residents were away by breaking through a patio door and stealing valuables.

Officers are asking anyone with information about these incidents or who has experienced a similar incident to contact police at 902-490-5016.  Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.

To reduce the risk of your house being broken into, make sure that windows and doors are locked before you leave your house for the day. If you have sliding windows or patio doors, place a piece of wood along the tracks to make them difficult to open. If your home is equipped with an alarm, ensure it is activated when you leave for the day. If you observe suspicious activity in your neighborhood, report it to police by calling 902-490-5020. Try to get a good description of the person including height, weight, clothing and other details. Take a look to see if there is a vehicle parked nearby and make note of the license plate number, make and model of the vehicle.
