Police investigating death in Correctional Services custody
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in custody of Correctional Services.
At approximately 11:40 a.m. on November 2, 2016 Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an unresponsive man located inside his cell at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth.
EHS transported the 38-year-old man to hospital, where he passed away on November 7, 2016.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiners Service completed the autopsy yesterday. The manner of death was not immediately obvious and further testing is required.
Investigators in the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
