District 6 Special Election Advance Voting Begins Saturday, Jan. 16

Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Residents in District 6 (Harbourview-Burnside-Dartmouth East) will have their first opportunity to vote in the special election at the advance polls this Saturday, Jan. 16. Voters will also be able to vote by phone and online 24 hours a day from 8 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.

Eligible voters can visit one of two advance polling locations in Dartmouth to cast their vote in person tomorrow:

  • Port Wallis United Church, 263 Waverley Rd.
  • Dartmouth North Community Centre, 105 Highfield Park Dr.

These locations will be open noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, regardless of the weather. With a mix of snow, rain and freezing rain in the forecast for tomorrow, staff in Winter Operations will work to ensure the parking lots at the polls, as well as the sidewalks and bus stops in the immediate vicinity are cleared in a timely manner.

This is the first of two advance polls in the District 6 special election. The second will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the same two locations during the same hours.

The final opportunity to vote will be Election Day on Saturday, Jan. 23. Residents will only be able to vote in person that day.
