A man faces drug charges after a traffic stop in Dartmouth.

On October 30 at 9:30 p.m., officers assigned to the East Quick Response Unit conducted a traffic stop at Prince Arthur Avenue and Southdale Street. The driver was arrested and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of crack/cocaine and cash.

Twenty-two-year-old Nicholas Andrew Brooks of Dartmouth was held overnight and appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court yesterday to face a charge of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The Quick Response Unit is an important part of the Halifax Regional Police crime reduction strategy, with a separate unit for each of our three divisions. The members in these units usually work in a plain clothes capacity and address crime and quality-of-life issues.
