Drug Charges and Weapons Seized Following Two Drug Searches

Two women face charges after two unrelated drug searches were conducted by officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit.

Yesterday at 5 p.m., officers conducted a search of a residence in the 0-100 block of Main Avenue in Halifax. Officers seized a quantity of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, cash and a loaded handgun during the search. Twenty-year-old Megan Leslie Ernst of Halifax was arrested at the scene and is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of drugs and two weapon-related offences. She was held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today.

Shortly after midnight, officers conducted a search of a residence in the 0-100 block of True North Crescent in Dartmouth. Officers seized a quantity of crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, three handguns and one long gun during the search. Forty-five-year-old Mia Kathleen Cole of Dartmouth was arrested at the scene and is charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and 10 weapon-related offences. She was held in custody and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today
