Drug search leads to drugs, weapons and theft charges

Man faces charges as a result of a drug search yesterday in Halifax. 

At 7:45 p.m. on April 25, members of the Special Enforcement Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 5200 block of Gerrish Street. As a result of the search, a quantity of crack cocaine, MDMA, an unknown powder and marihuana were seized along with drug paraphernalia, a handgun and several stolen laptops. Officers arrested a man during this search without incident. 

Thirty-three-year-old Michael Alexander Corkum of Halifax has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking MDMA, possession of marihuana as well as numerous weapons related charges and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
