Charges have been laid against two men and a woman in relation to an incident that occurred yesterday in Dartmouth.

At 7:06 a.m., officers responded to the 0-100 block of Main Street after a 20-year-old woman reported that she and a 25-year-old man had been held against their will inside an apartment in the 200 block of Roleika Drive. Officers went to the apartment but did not locate anyone. Subsequent investigation led officers to the 0-100 block of Mountain Road in Halifax where two men and a woman were arrested without incident. The male victim was also found at that location, suffering from non-life threatening injuries. A chain and a knife believed to have been used to assault the male victim were found inside the apartment on Roleika Drive. This was not a random act as the people involved are known to one another.

As a result of this investigation, 35-year-old Ryan Harvey Lyman of Gaetz Brook and 36-year-old Nicholas Duncan McCabe of Halifax are each facing the following charges: two counts of forcible confinement, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous and one count of uttering threats. Twenty-two-year-old Maryssa Danielle Poirier of Dartmouth is facing charges for being a party to the above offences. Ryan Harvey Lyman also faces two counts of breaching a previously imposed recognizance.

They were all held in custody overnight and will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today.
