At approximately 6 a.m. police responded to a residence in the 0-100 block of Cobalt Walk in Halifax to report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old male victim from the Halifax area who had been struck in the head with a baseball bat. The party responsible for the assault had fled prior to police arrival. The victim was assessed by EHS and then taken to the QE II Emergency for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The suspect in this matter was known to the victim. He was quickly identified and later turned himself in to police. An 18-year-old man from the Halifax area is being held for court and will face charges of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
