At 3:04 a.m., a central officer attempted to stop a vehicle for failing to stop for a red light at the intersection of Bayers Road and Connaught Street. Officers pursued the vehicle which continued to be operated in a reckless manner. The vehicle reached speeds of up to 80 km/h resulting in the termination of the pursuit, and officers lost sight of the vehicle. At 3:06 a.m. police received a report of a vehicle crashing into a residence in the 2000-3000 block of George Dauphinee Avenue. This was the same vehicle and a 45-year-old Halifax man was taken into custody. He sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He is currently in custody with officers at the QE II hospital. Charges are pending and will include flight from police and numerous motor vehicle act violations.
