GO #13-144334 - Aggravated Assault

At 9:40 p.m., HRP received a report of an injured man lying in the hallway of an apartment building int  the 0-100 block of Caledonia Road in Dartmouth. Responding officers located a 59-year-old man who appeared to be seriously injured. The victim reported letting someone into his apartment that he believed was known to him. The victim was then assaulted and eventually lost consciousness. When he awoke, he exited his apartment to seek assistance. The victim was rushed to the QE II Hospital where he remains. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Investigators have conducted an initial interview with the victim.The suspect was described as a  white man but dark complected, large build, 5’10”-6’ t, dark hair, wearing a red toque and sky blue jacket. The suspect is believed to have fled the area on foot. The investigation is in its early stages and members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigative Section are continuing to investigate to determine a possible motive. At this time, investigators do not believed this was a random act. Halifax Regional Police are requesting that anyone with information about this incident  contact police at 490-5016.
