At 12:55 a.m. on November 24, Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a break and enter call on Mountain Avenue in Dartmouth. The suspect forced his way into the residence and began to assault a 23-year-old male who lived there. The victim’s father, who is 55-years-old, attempted to intervene and he was also assaulted by the suspect. The suspect fled the area on foot before police arrived. Both victims of the assault were taken to hospital where they were treated and released. This was not a random incident as the suspect was known to the victims. At 4:10 a.m. the 20-year-old suspect was arrested a short distance away from where the incident took place. He is currently in police custody and will be attending Dartmouth Provincial Court on Monday November 25 to face charges of break and enter and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.
