At 1:08 a.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call that seven people who had been ATV’ing since 7 p.m. were now lost with low fuel and low cell phone batteries. Halifax Ground Search and Rescue were called out. Initial GPS coordinates showed that the group was in the Bear Point/Ragged Lake area. It was learned throughout the night that the group had separated trying to find their way to safety. Eventually all seven people regrouped and made their way to a cabin on German’s Island where they were able to started a wood stove. Ground Search and Rescue members eventually located the cabin and at 5:39 a.m., Ground Search members arrived back at the Command Post with the seven people. They were checked by EHS as a precaution.
