At approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to an apartment building in the 0–100 block of Ridgevalley Road in Halifax to assist the HRM Fire Service. A minor fire had been extinguished prior to police arrival but it was determined upon examination to have been deliberately set. In addition, it was evident that a person had committed a significant amount of property damage to the entranceway of the building, smashing glass windows, furniture and a variety of office equipment. A K-9 unit successfully tracked to a suspect who was arrested without incident. A 19-year-old Halifax man was remanded into custody and will appear in court February 25, 2013 to face break and enter, arson and property damage charges.
