GO #13-37535 - Industrial Accident

At 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of an industrial accident at the construction site at 1960 Brunswick Street. It appears that a heavy piece of machinery was being hoisted off of a truck and a piece came loose and fell on a construction worker, pinning him to the ground. HRM Fire and Emergency and EHS also responded to the scene. The 44-year-old man was freed from the equipment and taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The Department of Labour was contacted and a representative attend the scene to conduct an investigation. The construction site was shut down for the remainder of the evening.
