At 9:10 p.m. on July 9, Halifax Regional Police officers responded to an altercation between two males at the corner of Bayers Road and Romans Avenue. When they arrived, officers found one man lying on the ground requiring assistance as he had been sprayed in the face with some type of sensory irritant. The other man had already fled the area. The victim, a 52-year-old man, was treated at the scene by EHS but did not need to go to the hospital. A short time later, the 21-year-old suspect was arrested but no weapon was located. The suspect is currently in police custody and will be attending Halifax Provincial court to face charges of assault with a weapon and violation of a court order. This incident was not a random act and the men are known to each other.
