At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, Patrol Officers responded to a report of a vehicle having backed into the side of a business in the 0-100 block of Wright Avenue in Dartmouth, pinning a man between the car and the building. Responding members found a 40-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. The 62-year-old driver of the car, a Honda Fit, had been attempting to back into a parking spot when it appears he accidentally accelerated. A 69-year-old woman who had been walking with the victim was pushed out of the way by him just before the car struck him, preventing her from being pinned, too. Both the woman and victim were transported to hospital for treatment. She was treated and released. The victim's injuries, while serious, aren't believed to be life-threatening at this time. As a result of the investigation, the driver of the car was issued a ticket for unsafe backing under the Motor Vehicle Act.
