At 10:40 p.m. police responded to the report of an 18-year-old woman who had her purse stolen while she was walking with a friend on Morris Street in Halifax. The victim told police that they were walking in the area when they were approached by two males, one of them grabbing the victim's purse from her shoulder before both fleeing down the street.

Approximately fifteen minutes later officers were dispatched to a break and enter in progress in the 1000 block of Wellington Street where police located two suspects. One man matched the description of the suspect in the purse theft and was subsequently arrested without incident. The man, 36, will face charges of theft, possession of stolen property and breach of probation in relation to the stolen purse. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. The other man, 37, was arrested for breach of court orders and was held in custody overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today. The victim was not injured.
