UPDATE: The 25-year-old Dartmouth man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today to face two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. These charges involve the man threatening to do harm to himself with a knife and later a hypodermic needle during this incident.

At 3:48 p.m. on December 9, Halifax Regional Police responded to the 0-100 block of Primrose Street for a man who was threatening to harm himself and police. Several units responded and the man was located in an apartment with another man. A police negotiator was utilized and the man eventually exited the apartment. He refused to obey police commands, and due to the man having a weapon, a stabilized bean bag was deployed. The man was taken into custody without further incident. The investigation is continuing and the man was taken to the QE2 to be checked.
