The Halifax Regional Police responded to John Street in Halifax on May 30 at 6 p.m. for a report of an assault in progress. Members arrived on scene and attended to the victim. The suspect was arrested at the scene. The victim, a 79-year-old man, was transported by EHS to hospital for treatment. The suspect, a 55-year-old man, is facing aggravated assault charges. He is currently in custody and will be appearing in court on June 1. It is believed that the victim’s injuries are non-life threatening. The victim and suspect are known to one another.
