At 2 p.m. this afternoon, Halifax Regional Police were called to Robie Street at the Willow Tree (Bell Road area) regarding an ongoing protest in relation to Bill C-51. Approximately two hundred protesters made their way to the Spring Garden Road area. At this time, police were notified that two female protesters were sitting in the crosswalk at Spring Garden Road and Birmingham Street blocking traffic, not allowing cars to drive through the intersection. They were arrested at the scene, but have since been released without any charges being laid. Also at this time, a 26-year-old man from the protest was arrested for causing a disturbance by shouting and swearing. He has been released and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on July 30, 2015.
