At approximately 1:45 p.m. on October 23, Halifax Regional Police responded to a complaint from a parent that their 10-year-old son had been approached by a man while shopping at Chapters bookstore at 41 Mic Mac Boulevard in Dartmouth. This man offered to buy the boy a book if he would go with him. When the boy refused, the man then offered him five dollars to go toward buying the book, again if he would go with him. The boy left the area within the bookstore to find his parent and as he walked away, he noticed the man walk quickly toward the exit doors to the store. The boy told his father what had happened and both searched the store for the man but he was not located.
The man is described as being a heavy-set white man, 30-50-years-old with stubble on his face and brown/grey colored hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a grey sweater and hat. The matter will be investigated by members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
Investigators are asking the man who offered the boy the money or anyone who has any information on this incident to contact police by calling 902-490-5020.
