On October 8 at approximately 2:50 p.m. police responded to a weapons complaint near the intersection of Mumford and Chebucto Roads in Halifax. A witness to the incident had contacted police and stated they had observed a physical confrontation take place between two men in the intersection, one who was in a vehicle and the other on foot. The man on foot was observed kicking the car and was also armed with a brick that he used to smash the windshield and passenger window of the vehicle. Two people were inside the vehicle, the male passenger involved in the confrontation and a female driver. Neither was injured during this incident. After the incident, the suspect was observed fleeing the area in another car.
The subsequent police investigation identified a possible suspect in this incident. Physical evidence (footwear impressions) was also recovered at the scene. On Octobert 10 at approximately 8 p.m. investigators obtained a search warrant for a Bedford address where they seized evidence and arrested a 23-year-old man. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of assault with a weapon and mischief.
