Last night at 7:55 p.m. patrol members responded to a report of a robbery in the 1400 block of Brenton Street in Halifax.

A 50-year-old woman had been approached from behind on the sidewalk by a man who removed her purse from her shoulder. A struggle ensued as the victim grabbed for her purse which resulted in both her and the suspect going to the ground. Her wallet fell from her purse and the suspect grabbed it and fled on foot towards Clyde Street. A witness gave brief chase but last saw the suspect running on Dresden Row toward Spring Garden Road. The victim suffered minor scrapes and bruises as a result of the incident but did not seek medical attention.

The suspect was described as a white man in his twenties or thirties, 5’7 to 5’9 with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a dark colored winter jacket with a dark hoodie underneath.

The matter remains under investigation.
