UPDATE (as of 2:23 a.m. on Sunday, May 11): The 31-year-old male suspect has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. He has been remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility and will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court on Monday, May 12, 2014 to answer to the charges.

At 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, officers responded to a call of a man who had been stabbed while in the 100-200 block of Jarvis Lane in Halifax. Upon arrival, officers located a 19-year-old man with numerous stab wounds to his torso. He was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. It was determined that the victim and another man had gotten in to an altercation at a different address on Jarvis Lane and that is where the man was stabbed. A short time later, the suspect, a 31-year-old man, was arrested without incident at an address on Highfield Park Dr. The suspect is currently in police custody but no charges have been laid as of yet as the investigation is still ongoing. This was not a random incident as the victim and suspect are known to each other.
