UPDATE: The General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has laid charges in relation to the stabbing of two men in the early morning hours of December 28. Thirty-four-year-old Anthony Purvis of Dartmouth has been remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility to await court on Tuesday morning to face a number of charges, including two counts each of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

At 2:20 a.m. on December 28, Halifax Regional Police responded to a stabbing in the area of Portland Street near Prince Street in Dartmouth. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had suffered a stab wound to the neck. As officers were treating this male, it was reported that a second victim was located on Portland Street at Wentworth Street. This male had suffered a stab wound to the upper torso. Both victims were transported to the QE2 hospital. A male was arrested at the scene and is presently in custody. Members of the Integrated General Investigation Section are continuing the investigation.
