On February 19 at 4:30 p.m., a Halifax Regional Police officer was on routine patrol in the Pleasant Street area of Dartmouth. The officer was operating a marked police vehicle and was travelling north on Pleasant Street heading towards the downtown area. As he was approaching Linden Lea, a vehicle travelling south on Pleasant Street turned left in front of the police vehicle. The vehicles collided, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. The officer, as well as several witnesses, contacted 911 to report the collision. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to the Dartmouth General Hospital to be examined and were later released.  As a result of the investigation the driver of the second vehicle, a 68-year-old man from Dartmouth, was issued two summary offence tickets; one for operating an unregistered vehicle and one for failing to yield while making a left turn on a highway.
