As a start to National Police Week, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) is hosting a Police Day on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mic Mac Mall, Entrance 4, in Dartmouth. Citizens are invited to Police Day to speak with officers and learn first-hand about the work of various specialized HRP units such as Mounted Unit, Forensic Identification Section and Public Safety Unit.

An initiative from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, National Police Week is a seven-day public awareness campaign that provides citizens an opportunity to better understand the role of police in their community and encourages new connections between police and the communities they serve.

This year, National Police Week runs from May 12-18 under the theme “Committed to Serve Together”.
