Halifax Regional Police Investigating Sexual Assault

(5:55 PM)On  October 20, police responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred in a bus shelter located near 184 Portland Street in Dartmouth. A 21-year-old female reported that while she was sitting in the shelter waiting for the bus a man she didn't know approached  and engaged her in a sexually explicit conversation. The victim refused the advances of the subject but during the course of the conversation she was touched in an inappropriate and sexual manner. This offence occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. but wasn't reported until several hours later. The area was searched extensively by patrol officers with negative results. The matter remains under investigation.The suspect is described as a  black man with a medium complexion, 35 to 40-year-old, 5'10", 160 lbs, unshaven with gray whiskers and  a medium build. He was wearing rimmed glasses, a blue baseball hat worn backwards, a light blue denim jacket, blue or dark gray gym style pants with snap enclosures at the pockets.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 490-5016.
