Home Invasion

On December 18 at 2:40 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a home invasion in progress located at an apartment building in the 1300 block of South Park Street, Halifax. 

Numerous patrol officers arrived and located the male victim, suffering from defensive wounds, who stated that he was able to escape from his apartment and he believed the suspect was still on the floor of his residence.  Officers arrived on the floor and heard a female screaming from down the hall.  The female was outside of her apartment, bleeding from the head, and stated that the male suspect was still in her apartment.  Police entered the apartment and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

 

The male victim had defensive cuts to his hands and the female victim had several cuts to her face and head area.  Both were taken to hospital with non- life threatening injuries.

The accused and victims were not known to each other.  The suspect, a 19 year old male is being held for court on Monday and will be charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, overcoming resistance to commission of an offence (choking), forcible confinement and break and enter for each victim.
