It’s that time of year again when Halifax Regional Police launches its ‘Operation Fall-Back’ campaign in an effort to reduce noise complaints, property damage and public intoxication in the residential areas surrounding our universities.

The campaign, which was created several years ago in response to concerns raised by citizens, will commence the evening of September 1 and run throughout the month of September. Halifax Regional Police continues to work closely with community groups, university officials and student representatives to help prevent a repeat of problems from previous years through education and enforcement. HRP is utilizing increased high-visibility patrols and directed enforcement in known complaint areas.

Like the last few years, the partnership will evolve into a dedicated patrol program beginning in October when ‘Operation Fall-Back’ has concluded. Halifax Regional Police provides the cruiser and Dalhousie University pays the staffing costs for two officers who patrol designated neighbourhoods around Dal and King’s campuses at peak times on selected dates throughout the year.
