Human trafficking charges

A woman faces human trafficking charges after an investigation by the HRP/RCMP Integrated Vice Unit.

Yesterday, Vice investigators commenced an investigation regarding a woman who procured an underage girl for the purpose of prostitution. The investigation led officers to conduct a search last night at a residence in the 2400 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax. Officers arrested a woman without incident and seized computer equipment during the search.

Forty-year-old Corena Charmaine Hiles is facing one charge of trafficking a person under the age of 18 and one charge of material benefit. She was held in custody overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
