A man faces impaired driving charges after a crash overnight in Dartmouth.

At 12:50 a.m., police responded to a single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Lancaster Drive. Officers located an unoccupied vehicle on Lancaster Drive and determined that the driver had fled on foot. Multiple police units attended the area, along with a K-9 unit, and after a track by K-9, the driver was located behind a residence on Sea King Drive where he was arrested without incident.

A 20-year-old Dartmouth man has since been released from custody. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level that exceeds the legal limit.

Police continue to be encouraged by the number of citizens helping to play a role in community safety. If you have information on a drunk driver, please call 9-1-1.
