Halifax Regional Police has referred an incident that occurred on March 20 in Halifax to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) for investigation.
At 2:15 p.m. police received a request from a citizen for a well-being check of a 22-year-old woman as it was believed she may be a danger to herself. Police attended an address in the 7100 block of Chebucto Road as part of the investigation and took the woman into custody under the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act. During the encounter, the woman struggled with officers and sustained an injury to her arm.
She was transported to hospital by EHS. It has since been determined that the woman’s arm is broken and the matter has been referred to SiRT for investigation.
