Update - (10:34 a.m.)
Inglis Street is now open to traffic. Police have determined that the suspicious package was a cooler full of concrete. An engineering-construction firm is currently testing the quality of the concrete in various environments. HRP will be working with the company to ensure we are notified when similar testing is conducted in future to prevent unnecessary community concern and police response.
Halifax Regional Police advises motorists that Inglis Street in Halifax is closed to traffic in both directions between Young Avenue and Maclean Street after the discovery of a suspicious package. Officers are on scene and re-directing traffic away from the area.
We ask motorists to use alternate routes.
