Halifax Regional Police is advising the public of possible breaks into Canada Post mail boxes.

Yesterday, police received several reports of Canada Post mailboxes being tampered with in the Sambro and Ketch Harbour areas. It appears the community mailboxes were tampered with in an attempt to gain entry to individual mail slots, as well as the larger parcel slots. It’s unclear at this time whether anything was taken from the mailboxes.

Anyone with information on these incidents or who believes their mailbox may have been tampered with is asked to call police at 902-490-5016. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.

During the holiday season, it’s even more important that citizens pick up their mail on a regular basis and ensure they lock their mailboxes. Citizens are encouraged to call police if they observe any suspicious activity in or around community mailboxes.
