On December 22, 2019 at 1:06 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to Bedford Place Mall, 1658 Bedford Highway after multiple callers reported a suspect assaulting an older man following a road rage incident in front of the mall. The suspect left the mall before police arrival.

Shortly after, another caller reported a vehicle involved in a collision at the intersection of Bedford Highway and Union Street. Officers pulled the vehicle over, as they approached; the driver drove away at a high rate of speed weaving in and out of traffic. The vehicle proceeded through the intersection of Dartmouth Road and Bedford Highway where it was involved in a collision with another vehicle. It then proceeded to the Sunnyside Mall parking lot where it collided with another vehicle before fleeing the area.

The vehicle was located in the 200 block of Rocky Lake Drive after it hit a tree. The driver was located a short distance away and was arrested without incident. No one was injured following all of the collisions.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from Bedford is being held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court. He faces charges of Assault, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police and Driving while Prohibited.
