Man charged in homicide

A Halifax man has been charged with second degree murder for a homicide that occurred yesterday in Halifax. 

At approximately 12:16 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an unresponsive man inside a unit in an apartment building on Autumn Drive. Responding officers located a deceased man who had been stabbed. The victim has been positively identified as 26-year-old Blaine Gordon Clothier of Halifax.

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m., a 25-year-old man was taken into custody in an apartment in the 5000 block of Inglis Street. Investigators in the Homicide Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged Benjamin Joshua Gillis of Halifax with second degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon.
