Man Charged in Stabbing Incident

Investigators assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have charged a man in connection with a stabbing that occurred last night in Bedford.

Shortly before midnight, Halifax Regional Police responded to the parking lot of a strip mall located at 1658 Bedford Highway for a report of a fight involving a number of people. Once on scene, officers located a 29-year-old man with several stab wounds who had been assaulted by a man known to him. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival but was later arrested without incident at a Bedford residence. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old Bedford man was held in custody overnight. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court tomorrow to face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and three counts of breach of court orders.
